Excalibur Biretrograde Calendar
Certified by the Poinçon de Genève, the Excalibur Biretrograde Calendar brings high watchmaking into a 40 mm creation designed for daily wear. At its heart, the RD840 calibre meets the hallmark's 14 finishing criteria, visible through an open dial architecture. The Cosmic Blue dial deepens in layers, from the broad azuré finish of the outer flange to the sun-brushed centre plate, evoking the transition from day to deep sky. Biretrograde hands trace the day and date with immediacy and clarity. In 316L stainless steel, this creation wears easily on the wrist and opens naturally onto the Maison's world.

How the biretrograde began
In 1989, six years before the Maison was officially founded, Mr. Roger Dubuis co-patented the biretrograde display: a mechanism conceived to make horological complexity both approachable and pleasurable. Working with Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, he redesigned the retrograde from the ground up, replacing strip springs with spiral springs and rethinking the cam, in pursuit of greater precision, stability and readability. The Excalibur Biretrograde Calendar is the latest expression of the House of Retrograde, a founding signature that has never stopped evolving.
Certified precision
Caliber RD840
The calibre at the heart of this creation is the automatic RD840, certified by the Poinçon de Genève, a distinction that demands conformity to 14 distinct finishing criteria applied by hand to every component. These include wheel-bevelling, burnisher-bevelling, frosting, circular graining, Côtes de Genève, perlage, and mirror polishing, among others. A sapphire caseback reveals a sculpted oscillating weight drawing on the Maison's original 1996 design, reinterpreted with a contemporary geometry. Power reserve: 60 hours.
Surface and light
Steel that earns its color
316L stainless steel forms the entire case and bracelet of this Timepiece, worked through three distinct finishing techniques to reveal its full depth. Polishig, shot-blasting and satin-brushing are applied in combination, creating a play of contrasting surfaces that catches and redirects light across the wrist. The case holds seven distinct dial layers: a double-surface flange in Cosmic Blue, sun-brushed ecliptic counters with rhodium coating, a circular-brushed centre plate, and a skeletonised calibre visible through the open dial architecture. For the Maison, steel is a material of choice worked here to its fullest potential in resistance, cohesion and depth of polish.
