The Maison has always looked beyond its own walls. This year it looked to Japan, and to twelve samurai who ended a century of war and opened 265 years of peace. The Excalibur Kabuto Legacy gathers them around Edo Castle on a single dial, each commander returning as his helmet, sculpted by hand in pink gold. The Maison naturally chose Tokyo to show it first, and to its friends before anyone else.
423 YEARS LATER, AN HOMAGE TO JAPANESE HISTORY
On 16th July the Maison received its friends in a wooden house in Tokyo. Twelve kabuto waited in a row, one for each commander on the dial, and the timepiece sat among them like a thirteenth guest. A loupe was kept on the counter, for anyone who wanted to see how a crest becomes three millimetres of gold. A chef kept another counter, and the knives were as sharp as the maedate. The people behind the project explained why twelve, and why these twelves. Dinner was served at one long table, lit blue, with a few surprises kept for those who were there.
